IN-PERSON: An Evening with Fredrik Backman

The Midtown Scholar Bookstore is honored to welcome #1 New York Times bestselling author Fredrik Backman to Harrisburg for an in-person event. Backman will discuss the forthcoming film adaptation of A Man Called Ove starring Tom Hanks, the long-anticipated conclusion to his beloved Beartown series, and his previous bestselling books. Backman will be in conversation with TIME Magazine’s Angela Haupt.

This is a ticketed, in-person event with a live-stream option via Zoom. Proof of vaccination is required. Every ticket includes a signed, paperback copy with your choice of Fredrik Backman's books. Additional signed copies will be available for purchase at the event. Doors will open at 6:30pm, and the event will begin at 7:00pm. Virtual attendees will receive the event access link 24 hours and 1 hour before the event begins.

Vaccination Requirements:

You must show proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for entrance to this event. We will accept either a physical vaccination card, digital card, or a photo of the card on your phone. Per the CDC, people are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine.

Event Policies:

  • Seating is general admission; first come, first served

  • Masks are required

  • Cafe beverages + food will not be available during the event

  • Book browsing will not be permitted after 8pm

About the Author:

Fredrik Backman is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, Britt-Marie Was Here, Beartown, Us Against You, and Anxious People, as well as two novellas and one work of nonfiction. His books are published in more than forty countries. He lives in Stockholm, Sweden, with his wife and two children.
