VIRTUAL TOURS :  Our thanks to RoadsideWonders.net for the lovely photographic tour in her blog!  Publishers Weekly blogger Alison Morris also offers a virtual tour.  And you'll enjoy this 10th Anniversary interview with owner Eric Papenfuse.

PLAN YOUR VISIT :  We are located in a renovated 1920s theater next to Harrisburg's historic Broad Street Market, just a few blocks (1/4 mile) north of the Pennsylvania State Capitol.  We're honored to have been named one of "America's Great Independent Bookstores" and voted "Simply the Best" Independent Bookstore in the region for 10 years running.  Our bookstore-cafe extends over three buildings and includes used, new and discount books for scholarly and general readers, plus an exceptional collection of Rare Books & Prints, "The Little Scholar" children's and YA wing, two art galleries, a mainstage for author talks and acoustic music, and several community meeting areas.

The Midtown Scholar's "Famous Reading Cafe" is open daily. We offer organic, direct-trade coffees and espresso drinks from the national award-winning Counter Culture Coffee and brew organic, fair-trade teas from Rishi Tea.

Our internet warehouses stock over two million academic and general-interest books, while our retail bookstore-cafe has more than 200,000 used, rare, and sale-priced books on six floors in two connected buildings.  Thanks to special arrangements with several University presses, our shop features tens of thousands of discounted NONFICTION scholarly titles, including many not available for purchase anywhere online.

Free off-street parking in the lot behind our store.   [Directions]
